An evening with Copenhagen Jazz Guides continued
Master saxophonist Jacob Dinesen plays jazz in his favourite
sportswear from
Bayern München Sports Verein. He has a whole collection.
Sometimes he wears it under his pinstripe Italian silk suit that
he also likes to wear on stage.
Here is Jacob in some Japanese outfit joined by power player
Luther Thomas who is living in Copenhagen. Luther Thomas is also
a pioneer of the avantgarde and free jazz movement in New York.
To play one of Charlie Parker's fast bebop compositions in unison
is an art in itself.
This is the wonderful pianoplayer Mikkel Mark from the same group
who puts a lot of soul into his pianosolo.
Denmark is famous for the vast number of talentet bassplayers.
The most famous is probably Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen. Jeppe
Skovbakke is a new name. Here he is playing a solo in one of his
own compositions as a member of Rasmus Ehlers Trio.
With Copenhagen Jazz Guides you often get close to the musicians.
Here is pianist Rasmus Ehlers after a concert in Vognporten arm
in arm with Poul Ehlers, famous bassplayer and founder of the
legendary 1968 cult band Blue Sun. You have probably already guessed
that this is a picture of father and son.
